Mainz is an ideal location for conference venues and hotels or conventions and fairs, or product launches. The city has a traditionally balanced presence of nearly all economic sectors. It acts as the western gate of the Rhine-Main region. It is part of one of the most important and dynamic economic regions of central Europe. The mix of businesses in Mainz is distinguished by a wide range of sectors and a service orientation. One area of emphasis are the media. Mainz as a business location is also appreciated by a growing number of High Tech companies. Corporations operating on an international scale such as Schott Glas, IBM Deutschland Speichersysteme GmbH, or Novo Nordisk have chosen Mainz as their preferred location. Mainz has a long and rich history, documented by Roman remains dating back 2,000 years and the magnificent buildings bequeathed by the princes elector of the Baroque period. In the 17th century the princes transformed the face of the city, commissioning the best architects and sculptors to build unique royal palaces and new churches. The close interrelationship of church and city history is documented by the imposing cathedral, which dominates the Mainz’s striking skyline. There are many ways to travel to Mainz: railway networks, Frankfurt airport, excellent highway connections, and an inland container harbour. |
